Adama New Zealand Limited has applied for approval to introduce the nematicide Nimitz, an emulsifiable concentrate containing the active ingredient fluensulfone at 480 g/L for use on carrots, kūmara, parsnips, and potatoes.
Fluensulfone is a new active ingredient to Aotearoa New Zealand and has been approved in various overseas jurisdictions, including Australia, Canada, Japan, and the USA.
If approved, Nimitz would be restricted to professional users in commercial settings and applied using ground-based methods only.
We have reviewed the material submitted by the applicant, and carried out a human health and environmental risk assessment. The results are outlined in the draft science memorandum.
