Application to introduce the herbicide Soleto

Your views are sought on an application to introduce the herbicide Soleto.

The applicant, Belchim Crop Protection, has applied for approval to import or manufacture for release of the product Soleto containing 500 g/L of the active ingredient metobromuron in the form of a suspension concentrate.

Metobromuron is a new active ingredient to New Zealand. At the time of the application, this active ingredient was already approved in Europe.

Soleto is intended to be used as a pre-emergence herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds in potatoes, using ground-based application methods.

We have carried out a quantitative environmental and human health risk assessment, the details of which are available in the draft Science Memorandum.
