Have your say on Te Waikoropupū Springs

A Special Tribunal seeks your views on a water conservation order for Te Waikoropupū Springs, near Takaka.

Water conservation orders are the highest protection for water, which can protect a water body’s natural state, its unique characteristics and its significance for tikanga Māori.

A Special Tribunal appointed by the Minister for the Environment is considering an application for an order to cover the Arthur Mabel Aquifer, Te Waikoropupū Springs, Takaka River and its tributaries, and associated ground water.

A public hearing will be held in Takaka, likely to begin in April 2018, to hear submissions on the application that was brought by Ngāti Tama Ki Te Waipounamu Trust and Andrew Yuill who is the Chair of The Friends of Golden Bay.
