Since 1 October 2016, asbestos-containing products cannot be imported into New Zealand unless:

Fees must be paid when your application is lodged.
Products containing asbestos that are imported only for export are under the control of NZ Customs Service. The rules about which goods are subject to control are set out in Section 20 of the Customs and Excise Act 1996.
