Find information on transaction trends and volumes, emission units transferred, privately held units and historical data.
The New Zealand Emissions Trading Register (the Register) houses and tracks all emission units used in the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). As such, it holds a great deal of data that is useful for the carbon market.
You can view aggregate transaction trends for the domestic carbon market, including the number of transactions and units transferred every month.
You can also view tables containing historical data for transactions and units transferred since the Register began operation.
Each month we provide a view of the number of transactions occurring between accounts in the Register.
View monthly data on the number and type of units traded between accounts in the Register.
We provide a monthly view of the size of unit transactions within the Register.
Individuals and organisations are able to own NZUs. We provide information about private holdings to help people understand the New Zealand carbon market.
People or companies can voluntarily cancel emission units to offset their emissions and can opt to have their cancellation information published here.
You can view all of the Ministerial NZU Issuance Directions here.
