Space vehicle launches
Anyone planning a space vehicle launch where material may be deposited on the seabed in the EEZ must notify us.
COVID-19 Level 2 Update (15 May): We continue to work and to follow a plan to keep disruption to a minimum, while also keeping our staff and the public safe. More details
Depositing jettisoned material into the EEZ from a space vehicle launched from New Zealand is allowed without a permit, so long as certain rules are followed.
Here you'll find information about ongoing activities, or activities about to commence.
For more information about how this activity is regulated, see the section "Undertake a space vehicle launch".
We have received a pre-activity notification from Rocket Lab for the launch of an electron orbital launch rocket - Mission ID: Don't Stop Me Now. The launch window extends from 27 March 2020 to 9 April 2020.
