This policy provides high-level principles that guide our compliance, monitoring and enforcement activities. We:
- are responsive to Māori interests
- are a proactive regulator
- take a targeted and proportionate approach to compliance
- use statutory and non-statutory interventions.
These principles guide us in our approach to being a proactive regulator. We apply them when we are carrying out compliance, monitoring and enforcement activities.
These guidelines set out when we can intervene in a council's enforcement action under the Resource Management Act (RMA) 1991.
This policy sets out the guidelines and standards we follow when deciding whether to prosecute, and when conducting prosecutions.
The prosecution policy is based on the Crown Law Solicitor-General’s Prosecution Guidelines.
Our work programme supports and guides our work to carry out compliance, monitoring, and enforcement activities.
