This project is identified as LP04 in the Act.
At any time before the Expert Consenting Panel issues its final decision on the Papakura to Pukekōhe Rail Electrification resource consent application, it can request further information from the applicant (as well as other parties) under clause 25(1)(a) Schedule 6 of the Act. These requests and their responses can be found on the Reports and Advice page.
On 2 July 2021, the EPA asked the applicant to supply an updated/revised set of conditions of consent, particularly ensuring that Table 1 and Table 2 of Condition 1 had the correct referencing within them. This revised set of consent conditions supersedes and replaces previous versions of consent conditions supplied and are current as at 6 July 2021.
On 24 June 2021 the Expert Consenting Panel released Minute 3 regarding the submission of a new applications and legal submissions to this support this from the applicant.

On 25 June 2021 the applicant submitted to the EPA their amended application documents to account for new applications and their legal submissions to support this.

The applicant has supplied the amended application documents, being an updated Assessment of Environmental Effects and an updated Appendix Q - Erosion and Sediment Control Report to account for the new applications. They have supplied these in both a track changed version and a clean version.

As per Minute 3, the Panel now invites all those parties who have commented on the application to provide comment on the new applications and legal submissions should they wish. If any party choses to provide comment this must be received by the EPA no later than 5pm on Tuesday 29 June 2021. The expert consenting panel will then seek independent legal advice, at which point they will release a Minute about how they intend to proceed with the new applications.
As per Minute 3, a number of parties who had provided comment on the application responded to the applicant's legal submissions and new applications. These responses are on the Invited Comments page.
On 10 March 2021, KiwiRail Holdings Limited lodged an application for resource consent for works related to the electrification of the railway between Papakura and Pukeōhe to extend the Auckland Metro passenger train services. The application includes bulk earthworks and the removal of vegetation.
On 17 March 2021, the EPA determined that the application complies with the requirements set out in clause 3, Schedule 6 of the Act, and can be provided to a panel to determine the application.
