Information about the application process
The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has lodged a request for changes to policies, the addition of a new policy, and two new definitions to the Greater Wellington Regional Freshwater Plan with the EPA (the plan change request). The NZTA has indicated that the plan change is designed to better enable the consideration of resource consent applications relating to the NZTA’s Transmission Gully Project.
The Transmission Gully Project is a proposed 27 kilometre highway that links Wellington City with the Kapiti Coast.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has lodged applications (matters) with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for the proposed Waterview Connection Proposal. In accordance with section 145(10) of the Resource Management Act 1991, notice of the matters has also been served on the three local authorities within which the proposal is located, being Auckland Regional Council, Auckland City Council and Waitakere City Council.
The EPA is required to make a recommendation on the matters to the Minister for the Environment and the Minister of Conservation on whether the matters are part of or a proposal of national significance and who should hear and decide them within 20 working days.

Contact Energy Limited (Contact) has lodged applications (matters) with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for the proposed Tauhara II Geothermal Development Project in Taupo. In accordance with section 145(10) of the Resource Management Act 1991, notice of the matters has also been served on both local authorities within which the proposal is located, being Environment Waikato and Taupo District Council.

Mighty River Power Limited's application to build a wind farm in the Turitea Reserve, near Palmerston North, is currently being considered by a Board of Inquiry chaired by Judge Shonagh Kenderdine. It was called in by the Minister for the Environment in December 2008.

Contact Wind Limited and Contact Energy Limited's application to build a 180-turbine wind farm (Hauāuru mā raki) on the west coast of the North Island is being considered by a Board of Inquiry chaired by Judge Jeff Smith. The Minister for the Environment called in the proposal in August 2008.

Transpower New Zealand Limited's application for notices of requirement and resource consents for an electricity transmission line was granted by a Board of Inquiry, chaired by Judge David Sheppard, in September 2009.

The proposal was called in by the Minister for the Environment in January 2008 and then referred to the Environment Court. The Environment Court declined the application by Unison Networks for a 34-turbine wind farm near Te Waka Range in Hawke's Bay.
